Event Marketing Intern (Fall 2013)

Reports to: Development Coordinator
Purpose: The marketing intern will work in cooperation with the Development Coordinator and the Marketing Director to meet the development and event marketing goals of the Colorado Mountain Club. The focus will be on marketing for CMCs annual conservation fundraisers, the Backcountry Bash and Backcountry Film Festival. Internship may also include research, and administrative duties.Critical Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist with marketing efforts for 21st annual Backcountry Bash Conservation fundraiser, sponsored by Chipotle & Avery
Assist in the marketing efforts for special events
Assist with design of printed and digital marketing materials, including brochures, posters, and web pages
Assist in designing and implementing email campaigns and social media posts
Assist with social media efforts on Facebook
Research leads for potential sponsors and partners of special eventsAdditional Duties May Include:
Provide administrative support for development activities associated with foundation, individual, and corporate fundraising
Solicit and track auction item donations and sponsorship
Material preparation and assembly
Complete special projects as assignedEducation/Work Experience:
Minimum of college level Junior classification; at least 1 year of previous work experienceHours & Compensation:
The marketing intern works between 16-32 hours per week depending on desired hours; hours and schedule is very flexible. Starting and ending dates are also flexible.
Preferred start date between August 19 and 23, 2013 and preferred end date is between December 6 and 20, 2013.
Occasional evening or weekend work may be requested for special events, including film festivals and fundraisers.
This is an unpaid internship, offering the right candidate program credit and invaluable experience in marketing, fundraising, events planning and management, and donor communication using Raisers Edge.
Qualifications:
Experience with PC Microsoft Windows and the software programs associated with Windows, particularly but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
Design experience desired (not required)
Database-entry skills, specifically with Raisers Edge, is a plus (not required)

16-32 depending on desire. Flexible.
