The Literature to Life program of Young Audiences New York is seeking an artistic intern to join the team of our upcoming production of County of Kings by Lemon Andersen. The artistic intern will provide administrative and producing support to the Literature to Life program and is considered a vital member of the production team. This internship should expect to gain invaluable professional skills in the development and stage management of an existing work being remounted in preparation for our 2014-15 Literature to Life touring season.Responsibilities include:
• Attend and participate in all rehearsals and productions meetings throughout the rehearsal period.
• Create and maintain a production book that details research, edits of the current adaptation, production inventory, technical needs, and performance details of the production.
• Create and manage a working technical script that clearly details the technical needs of the production for Technical Directors and Production Managers at national presenting venues.
• Generate updated scripts, as needed, as edits are made to the current adaptation.
• Obtaining production needs in the areas of costumes, props, and set under the direction of any designers and the director.
• Write and submit daily rehearsal reports for the production and administrative teams.
• Assist the director in taking notes regarding performance, script edits, and technical specs during rehearsals.
• Assist the production and administrative teams of the Scholarship Series, which performs in NYC at the conclusion of the rehearsal period.
• Attend and participate in weekly artistic meetings scheduled to take place Tuesday afternoons.
• Provide general support to the administrative and production teams as needed.This is an unpaid educational opportunity. Both graduate & undergraduate students are encouraged to apply.
Time Requirements:
The internship begins July 7th and ends August 29th with the possibility of extending into the fall semester.Artistic interns are expected to participate in rehearsals and meeting approximately 2-3 days/week. Interns must be available Tuesday afternoons for artistic meetings, and the remaining schedule will be mutually agreed upon based on schedules of the intern and the production.

Qualifications:
• Knowledge of the performing arts industry.
• Stage management experience, a plus.
• Reliable and detail-oriented.
• Superior time-management and organizational skills.
• Excellent writing & communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in collaboration with a team.
• Knowledge of arts education, a plus
